Best Oral Presentation Award at XVIth TIAFT Latin American Regional Meeting for Liesl Janssens

BLT Member Liesl Janssens from the Laboratory of Toxicology at Ghent University was awarded the ‘Best Oral Presentation’ Award at the XVIth TIAFT Latin American Regional Meeting, virtually hosted from Nov 18-30, 2021 in/from Ecuador. Her presentation was entitled “Large-scale activity-based SCRA screening on patient plasma samples“. Marthe Vandeputte, from the same Lab, received an ‘Honorable Mention’ Award for her presentation “Getting to know the new opioids on the block: functional characterization of emerging cinnamylpiperazine “AP” opioids“.
Both Liesl and Marthe graduated in 2019 as Master in Drug Development at Ghent University, before embarking upon a PhD at the Laboratory of Toxicology at the Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences. Both are working on the set-up and application of bio-assays, in the context of detecting and characterizing doping and new psychoactive substances.
