BLT & TIAFT – (also) a good match
BLT & TIAFT – (also) a good match
From Nov 23-27, TIAFT held its annual conference in Auckland (New Zealand). Despite being a far-away-destination, quite some BLT members embarked upon the journey to attend this meeting, to, present their work, chair sessions, etc.
BLT provided financial support to no less than 4 of its members to attend this meeting:
- Marine Deville (CHU Liège), presenting a poster on “Methylmethcathinone (MMC) isomer identification : brain teaser illustrated by a case report”.
- Marthe Vandeputte (UGent), chairing a session and presenting on “From brorphine to spirochlorphine: Pharmaco-toxicological profiling of emerging brorphine-like synthetic opioids”.
- Natan Van Wichelen (UAntwerpen), presenting on “What can wastewater-based epidemiology add to the knowledge on (mis)use of methylphenidate by students?”.
- Stefania Oliverio (LNS), presenting on ““The one that could break my heart” – Postmortem blood concentrations of prothipendyl and cardiac toxicity”.
Axelle Timmerman (UGent), 2024 award recipient, was invited to present her work to the TIAFT young scientists, with a presentation entitled “Novel in vitro assays to characterize monoamine transporter modulators: assessing uptake inhibition and release”.
And last but not least, Natan Van Wichelen (UAntwerpen) was the recipient of the award for best oral presentation by a young scientist. Topic of his presentation: “What can wastewater-based epidemiology add to the knowledge on (mis)use of methylphenidate by students?” A nice recognition of his work, which had also already been awarded in Belgium!
